Are there any published performance comparisons between SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2012? I would be interested to know if any like-for-like tests have been performed (ie. same database, same hardware, 2008 R2 vs 2012). I have read numerous times in the Microsoft marketing mateial that the performance should is better but have not actually seen any published actual performance figures.
I appreciate that some of the new features (eg. column store indexes), when implemented, should improve performance but I would like to results results based on SQL Server 2008 R2 compatible features so that when we update our customer systems (Enterprise version) we have a rough idea of what to expect. During our upgrade process we will not introduce any of the newer available features - these will be implemented in subsequent releases of our product.
