how to measure the performance of query has improved after index

Hi All,

i used the missing index dmv to find the if there are any missing index on the table, wanted to know how do we measure, weather the index has improved the performance or not.

wanted to know what kind of measure we can take before index and after index for comparision, weather that index has actually improved the performance.
