Recovery model role for performance issue

Hi,

   Recencly there was a discussion about role of recovery models for performance gain. Some of them have to say that simple recovery model helps to gain performance for bulk load operations however full recovery model would slowdown.

   The answer seems to be derived from MSDN for sql 2000 related but would like to know is this really true and anywhere is this documented in MSDN for sql server 2008 R2 version and in what scenarios simple would help in gaining performance.
